signature kiss.
my fabulous cori's pop passed away.
i'm not sure i've ever been in the company of a family
that loved each other as much as cori's family loves each other.
we made a shiva visit and i got one of cori's mom's signature kisses.
i hated to wash it off at the end of the night.
here's cori's pops amazing obit:
Stanley Sackin,
75: Entrepreneur, author and lifelong community volunteer
Stanley Owen Sackin, 75, died January 27 with his family by
his side in Atlanta, GA.
A memorial service will be held on his birthday, May
16, in Atlanta.
Stanley was born in Los Angeles, CA to Fanny and Ernest
Sackin. Stanley demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit while at Los
Angeles High School, founding with his brother, Louis, The Swimmin’ Hole Gang,
teaching swimming lessons.
He graduated from the University of
California –Los Angeles (UCLA) with a B.A. in Political Science and was a
member of the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity.
As the owner of five local telephone services, he became the
youngest president of the Association of TeleServices International
(ATSI). He started the indoor and exotic plant store “Little
Green World” with his wife before co-founding two companies in the wireless
industry in the early 1980’s. He relocated his family to Atlanta, GA in 1984
and in 1987 pursued the restaurant industry as one of the first national
franchisees for the Johnny Rockets international restaurant chain. Other career highlights include the founding of Underground
Airways in 1959; the naming of a mountain in his honor; and
self-publishing a cookbook, “Secret Recipes,” in 1999.
In both Los Angeles and Atlanta, Stanley was an active
volunteer in the community serving on the boards and/or in leadership positions
for organizations including: the Center for Early Education, Girl Scouts of
Greater Los Angeles, United Way, Nexus Contemporary Art Center Genesis Shelter, Jewish Family & Career Services
of Atlanta, and most recently, MARTA Mobility.
Stanley is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43
years, Stevie; his daughter Samantha and son-in-law Tom Fassbender and
granddaughters Francesca and Jacqueline Fassbender of Los Angeles, CA; his
daughter Cori of Atlanta, GA; his son Marvin and grandson Jacob of
Pflugerville, TX; and his daughter Alexandra and son-in-law Arturo Hernandez,
grandchildren Gloria and Julian and step-granddaughter Sianya of Atlanta, GA;
and countless friends and family, all who will miss his incredible sense of
humor, compassion and wisdom.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are
made to Jewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta (Alterman/JETS
Transportation Fund or Aviv Older Adult Services Caregiver Support Services),
Center for the Visually Impaired or the charity of your choice.
May his memory be a blessing.

a request.
two of my favorite people in the world are struggling right now with loved ones who are sick. very sick.
i'm requesting your prayers. if you're not the praying type, please send some good vibes & energy & love.
my fabulous cori's pop fell and is in icu. she is surrounded by family, but extra prayers and love always help.
jeff, my tara jane's partner's mom has fought the good fight against a really mean cancer and from what i hear, she continues to show strength and courage with grace.
life is so precious & special.
all my love to cori & jeff.

curtains for cori.
my fabulous cori is my next door neighbor at work- lucky me!
cori's office was once used as an observation room,
so she has a large window- which was in great need of
a new, non-dust collecting, allergy attack causing curtain.
so... i made one! my first curtain!
handy man jason hooked us up with a wood bar
& i made a loop on the top & it slid right on!
i nabbed the fabric for 40% off at joann's.
a sexy side view, w/ a brian andreas print- awww.
crazy saturday night during the whole30-
freaky fruit smoothie and arts & crafts!
my new obsession- felt flowers.
i've made pins & hair barrettes & head bands.
*my sweet little niece claire is about to be overloaded w/ accessories!
i also decided to start making jewlery....
*the look on jim's face was priceless when i told him this.
(you just wouldn't believe the bargain i scored for these beads!)
here's a sneak peak of my next project,
curtains for our dining room!
day 7.
we've gone a whole week on our whole30 challenge.
here's a few pics of what we've been eating...
berries sprinkled w/ cinnamon and walnut & almonds
make for a perfect mid-day snack.
brocoli, onion and fresh picked radishes roasted.
chicken breast, sweet potato & veggies-
perfect post cfsq workout dinner.
baked chicken & beans.
mom had us over for brisket & roasted root veggies.
we used coconut oil so much....
we should buy stock.
*this lady @ whole foods told me that coconut oil is basically the same thing their using
in alzheimer's medication trials...i think she was a lil nutty, but very interesting..
stuffed peppers.
cut open stuffed peppers- not as cute
when you actually have to eat them, but so tasty.
fabulous cori brought us a persimmon-
so tropical and delicious and tangy!
turkey burger with zucchini latkes & veggies.
coconut milk, banana, kiwi, spinach, raspberry
smoothie with slivered almonds & cinnamon.
my fav: roasted root vegetables.
hamburger w/ toppings... don't even miss the bun!
cave girl shopping cart.
green beans & pearl onions & tj's 21 seasonings.
crock-pot chicken soup w/ parsnips & carrots & onions & thyme.
everything taste better out of our molly & jim bowls:)
23 more days to go!
39 years of choice.
regarding roe vs. wade, president obama stated:
the government "should not intrude on private family matters".
the president says he's committed to protecting a woman's right to choose and 'this fundamental constitutional right'.
thank you.
arbonne.
have you ever heard of arbonne?
it's a fabulous swiss skincare & lifestyle company
that sells delicious lotions & make up & goodness.
my friend becca is a arbonne girl, and we had a party!
everyone started out with a nice face wash.
jared was instantly impressed and he just glowed!
here, katie (becca's arbonne big sis) from the windy city
gives mom a salt scrub hand massage.
jared & heather are absolutely amazed at the
photographic evidence of how good this stuff works!
kathryn booked a party and got a goodie bag!
it was a super sweet afternoon!
let me know if you're interested in arbonne,
my girl becca would love to sell you some!
*seriously, i got the eye cream and my dark circles are gone;)

felt & buttons & totes
it was a super crafty & productive mlk day!
i had some extra felt from a previous project,
so i made some head bands & a flower pin.
my beautiful model!
while procrastinating on cori's curtain...
i made future teacher & sweetie pie amanda a tote bag.
it's colorful paper clips on one side
and green & blue hounds-tooth on the other!
and then rewarded myself with some cave girl paleo cereal:
blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, sunflower seeds,
slivered almond & coconut milk w/cinnamon.

honoring boot.
my father-in-law tom, aka boot was a total baller back in the day.
the hawkinsville dispatch & news did a 1/2 page spread
on boot's sports legacy and his current volunteer work.
"one of perry high school's greatest pure shooters".
we're proud of you, boot!
whole 30.
as mentioned before, slim & i went paleo on january 1st,
but our 30 day super strict challenge started yesterday, january 15.
read up on the whole30 here.
we did baseline workouts at cfsq, here's my stats...
