jenny lewis, thank you.

wow. jenny lewis is amazing.
her new album, the voyager is rocking.
every song is a gem.
a few days ago i had it on repeat while
i water-colored & i was in heaven.
karen, me & lea (slim behind the camera)
had a great time and met new friends- most
were so memorable because they had such
terrible concert manners.
spilling beer, talking too loud & too much,
super bad body odor & feeling the need
to raise their arms constantly & crying.
jenny's suit was magical.
i hear she wears it at every show.
it matched her guitar and stage set up.

here's the show set-list i found
on someone's instagram.
yes, she covered the dead's shake down street
and it was AWESOME!

moma baby girl.

our moma girl is the sweetest.
she's just so cuddly & cute & present.

oak ass 50.

i am beyond proud of my main squeeze, slim
for absolutely dominating a 50 mile
mountain bike race this past weekend!
slim traveled to birmingham, alabama with
some buddies and rode two 25 miles loops
in about six and a half hours.
*i hate to steal other people's property-
but this pic was too good to pass up.
maybe i'll buy it?

life's a party. rock your body.

marcel the shell reminds
me of my friend kathryn.
they don't look alike or anything...
i think it's because kathryn was the one
who first introduced  me to marcel.
it's hard not to smile.
shrimps are the idiots of the sea.

also, drunk babies.

atlanta pride.

i spent pride saturday in the park
with my favorite people!
brother jared + i making our heads
hello kitty eyes.
my college roomie &
the most positive person i know, sam jam
came to town for the weekend.
cheers to love & acceptance of
all of our brothers & sisters.
hello lipstick!
the most gorgeous bachelor
at atlanta pride.so dreamy!

recent purchases.

i am a bargain shopper.
i'd love to say that i was one of those
'quality over quantity' types of buyers
but i am not. and i am not ashamed.
o my goodness how my house would be so
less cluttered and our closest would be
less packed & somewhat organized
& i would not have to take up
every closet in our house with my
clothes, shoes, coats & accessories.
i love my clutter & stuff.
i also love my accepting partner who
is okay with me slowly taking over...

my dad would always say to me:
buy better & buy less.
i love that advice, but honestly
it's just not in my genetic make-up...
i guess i'm more mandel in my shopping
preferences and less levine.

with that said, here's a few deals i recently scored.
classic frye harness 12r boots
found on amazon for about $150
retail $268.
wool blend baseball jacket
oldnavy.com $20, down from $50
plaid-panel coccoon sweater
gap $12, down from $45
toms black jacquard desert wedges.
gifted, but the buyer got a GREAT deal!
like $45, down from $99.

stella scooter.

we welcomed this super cute
stella scooter into the family this weekend!
i fell more in love with it when i found out the
paint color is called avocado!
jim looks so good on it, dang!
he takes his motorcycle exam tomorrow-
wish him luck!

currently reading..

Brain on Fire by Susannah Cahalan. I couldn't put this one down, constantly wanting to know what would happen on the next page. A scary reality and very eye opening, a case that will hopefully open lots of doors for auto immune diseases and bridges the gap between psychology and neurology.
engaging & thrilling.

seyc.

i had the pleasure of volunteering & attending the
9th annual southeast yoga conference on sunday.
i took 3 different workshops, each 2 hours long.
it was a solid mix of hard work, self exploration,
excitement, education and mindfulness.

it was such a wonderful event
with amazing & talented people.
i felt connected to my community
and left feeling energized & grounded.

baby fitz.

my beautiful friend eleanor
became a mom on september 23rd!
baby fitzpatrick hocking johnson arrived
perfectly at 6lbs 12 oz.
my girl elly looks absolutely perfect post-delivery
with her picture perfect little family!
eleanor & i have been friends since our
freshman year of college. we were pledge sisters,
political allies, roommates obsessed with sex & the city
and we even pushed our twin beds together to make a big bed!
seeing these pics of her as a new mom warms me
and bring me such happiness. love you, elly j!

me & my hommies at synagogue.

wishing all a new year filled with adventure,
love, excitement, hope & connection.
although it's belated, it is sincere.

apples & cinnamon.

hello to you & you & welcome to fall.
i took a little blog break, but after countless*
calls for my return, here i am!
slim & i have been enjoying the change in
seasons and traveled to colorado a few
weeks ago to celebrate our anniversary.
have you tried the new chobani
apples & cinnamon yogurt? it's amazing.
i snapped this pic rather dangerously while
enjoying it on my commute on the first day of fall.
my cute new skirt just happened to match!
i'm going to share a few old pics & stories
just to catch up, but from here on out i'll be
keeping it real and up to date!

we are family.

in wake of the terrible loss
of the iconic & amazing robin williams,
i wanted to share one of my families
all time favorite films...
we still quote this movie, like daily.
"bob dole is gorgeous!"
"i pierced the toast!"
"one always need a touch of color."
"try more gum!"

depressed or know someone that is
& in need of help? don't wait until it's too late.

tess latain lozano

it is with great joy i present baby tess!
tess took her sweet time, baking
away in tara's tummy for two extra weeks
& made her debut on july 19th at 4:05am.
yum! tess weighed in at a healthy 9.1oz
& 21.5 inches long.
i think she looks like jeff w/ tara's beautiful bow lips.
my love & pride & awe for tara is too much to handle.
she is already the most loving & affectionate mother.
tara has always had such a defined warmth about her.
i remember feeling it the minute i met her at
my freshman orientation at wcu in 2003.
i'm beyond thrilled to be a part of this
excellent adventure with the lozano's!
in love. xo

rejoice.
