my first workout completed as prescribed...rx.

the hammer.

crossfit has been kicking my lil tushy.

we've been doing some workouts named after

fallen military soldiers.

last night we did the hammer:

5 rounds of

power cleans, front squats & jerks

and then a boat load of pull ups.

i used a 65lb bar. the rx was 135lb.

the squats were killer.

my wrists were immediately sore

by the time i got to the jerks in each round

my arms felt like jello...& then go straight into 20 pull ups!

i finished in a little under 29 minutes.

there was a mandatory 90 second rest between sets.

that was nice!

my hands are looking (and feeling) rough!

juliana.

we just received a bat mitzvah invite for an 

amazing little girl, juliana i used to babysit for in high school.

she was 4 and i was 17 when we 1st met.

her mom, wendi is one of the major reasons i wanted to 

become a social worker. wendi is so strong, so smart

and an amazing advocate, mother & friend.  

i can't believe juliana is being bat mitzvahed!!

makes me feel a bit old...

sunshine hurricane.

i got a surprise visit from hurricane laila today.

laila is my old intern partner, roommate & buddy. 

laila just finished kicking some cancer booty

and is moving from cali to maryland.

laila is so brave & sweet & pretty & strong.

on the road.

slim called last night & told me a few fun stories from

their adventure. i miss slim & wish i was riding with them.

i've been keeping myself busy with work & cfsq & the pups.

lea & i have had sister sleepover parties every night. 

gordon, ga.

croquet, cakes & hacky sac.

our pals micah & rachel came to visit.

we had a lot of fun. they came to us straight from

(5 weeks on) the puerto rico beach.

*tara was a bit envious of their tans to say the least...

we played croquet.

slim & micah went to college together

and they hadn't seen each other in 7 years! 

we went to the marietta pizza kitchen and

micah taught us all how to make dollar bill rings.

then we left our creations for a waiter as a bonus tip!

we sat on the porch and ate oatmeal & eggs & fruit.

rachel & micah really love mangos.

they showed us the best way to eat them and we

ate our hearts out. seriously, we just kept eating mangos.

we bought a whole box at harry's!

then we went to the art hunt and all came home empty handed,

except raffy- she found 3 pieces. 2 toilets & a monster.

then we ventured to your dekalb farmers market 

(which is very very super busy on saturdays)

and bought a bunch of delicious foods and cakes and brews

and had a big croquet game in raffy & b & lyric's backyard.

we all took turns using their new push mower.

rachel & jared made up the black (and purple) team.

i think jared just naturally started to have an

australian accent (just like rachel).

they were a fierce & fabulous team.

lea & tara made up the red (and chaco) team.

they liked to call themselves team honesty...

(insert sassy face that says "girl please")

raffy & i were the orange (graphic tshirt) team- also known as

THE WINNERS!

croquet is really fun.

a nice simple game that can easily & quickly become violent.

the boys were all teamed up too..

micah & b were the golden boys, yellow team

and slim & jeff were the green j's team.

they were both the 1st to finish the course and the 1st to 

knock each other out with their poison balls.

even lyric got in on the fun as she played caddy!

levine-hunt's mean muggin.

after hours of crochet and light beers we started on dinner.

we made delicious burritos, guac, smushed plantains & had cake.

then we all did party tricks and played hacky sac & hugged.

then next morning slim, micah & rachel took off for the farm.

the plan is for all 3 of them to ride their bikes and have fun.

micah & rachel are riding all the way home, to new hampshire.

slim is going to ride with them as far as he can.

(before his spring break is over and has to join the real world again)

i've had mixed feelings about my parents dog stella.

she's really sweet, but jumps & peeps 24/7.

but after seeing the last thing she destroyed...

i love her and think she's really smart.
