the annual culture change summit
where like-minded people joined
together and worked on improving
our world and the way we care for our elders.

offending calendars.

this is what i found in my co-worker emily's office..
3 calendars.
i asked why she had the picture on the far left calendar covered and she told me that it was a catholic calendar and it had crosses on it and she didn't want to offend anyone. i seriously laughed out loud. i asked emily, who is catholic, working at a jewish (non-secular social services agency) why she thought it was okay to have a seder plate and purim grogger (totally religious items) on showcase in her office, but not to have a small symbol of her own religion!?
she was too cute and just laughed.

day 21.

we're way past half-way in our whole30 challenge.
we had a clinical team potluck at work.
that's a milkyway cake- bottom left, peggy said it had 6 whole
milkyway candy bars in it. it's s a bit hard not to indulge
when everyone around you is, but it felt so good to pass it up!
thankfully, there was a ton of foods that were paleo-friendly:
fruit salad, fresh veggies and ina made a badass salad with chicken,
avocado, sweet potato chips, cashews and homemade vinaigrette (w/ no added sugar)

on call

this is our on-call phone.
(fyi: slim is an old school nokia fan)
i'm on-call once a month for a week.
it pays a little extra & it's totally worth it as long as no one calls. this week only two people called... and they were both other clinicians, with questions- so far so good!
